It’s here! Today is the day of the biggest sporting event of the year, Super Bowl 50. Eighteen weeks of football have come down to this final showdown between the Carolina Panthers and the Denver Broncos. A match-up between the best team in the NFC against… Well, a pretty good team from the AFC (come on, we all know New England was the best team in the AFC this year).
After two weeks of anticipation and build up we finally get to see the big game. But hey, at least we had the Pro Bowl to keep us entertained in the meantime, right?
Anyway, the wait is over, so now it’s prediction time.
The Carolina Panthers will win the Super Bowl. The combination of Cam Newton, who is playing out of his mind right now, and Carolina’s tough defense will be enough to shut down Payton Manning and the Broncos. Another factor to take into account is Carolina’s strong offensive line play, which will negate the powerful pass rush of the Denver Broncos.
Other Things To Look For:
It will be interesting to see how Peyton Manning plays in this game. With rumors flying around that this will be his final game before announcing his retirement the stage is set for Peyton. Will he go out with a bang or with a mere whimper?
A Cam Newton Super Bowl Dance?
We all know how much Cam Newton loves to celebrate touchdowns. Mainly because he spends a good 3-5 minutes dancing on our television sets to prove it. If Newton spends that much time and energy choreographing dances for the regular season then he must have something real special cooked up for the Super Bowl, right? We’ll have to wait and see. More importantly, Newton has to find a way into the endzone against the number one defense in the NFL first..
The Super Bowl commercials are always a hot topic around the water cooler on Monday mornings. However, since the years of the “Waaazzzup!!” type of commercials they have been a little bit stale. If you set the over/under for number of commercials that will make you laugh out loud at 5 then take the under. Especially if Amy Schumer and Seth Rogen are supposed to be the headline commercial of the night. Please, enough with those two…
The Halftime Show
Okay, it’s time for us all to admit that we like Coldplay more than we let on to our friends at the bar. It has become a cultural norm to poke fun at people who listen to Coldplay as being soft and too emotional. Admit it, you all have at least one Coldplay song on your playlist. In fact, most of you probably have entire albums by them on your playlist. And you know what? That’s okay. Coldplay is a good band, and this halftime show will be good as well. Not great, not spectacular, but good.
Lady Gaga singing the National Anthem
Did you know that you can actually gamble on the National Anthem? You do now. According to OddsShark Vegas has set an over/under on how long it will take Gaga to perform the anthem. It is set at two minutes, twenty seconds. Hammer the over on this one. Gaga is going to take her sweet time with this, so take the over and win yourself some easy money.
